‘Young Petals’ is the reinterpretation of my nostalgic teenage years.
Analogue photographer Valerie Yuwen Hsieh recently submitted this sublime photo-series she took on 35mm film in Taipei, Taiwan. Shot at night with flash and some lilies.
Moreover, Valerie wrote:
“One of my favorite quotes is from the book The Perks of Being a Wall Flower: ‘I am both happy and sad and I’m still trying to figure out how that could be.’ Puberty is such a complicated but beautiful time. I went to a girl high school, and I remember having so much fun but sometimes feeling melancholy for no reasons. Iβm also obsessed with girlhood. Any movies with teenage girls as protagonists are my jam. I got inspired by the characteristics, personalities, appearance and fashion from these girls. Often the cinematography also has an influence on my photos.”
