Photographed by Megan Winstone this editorial called ‘RIOT GRRRL’ is totally expressive, colourful and appears wonderfully self-confident.
“RIOT GRRRL shows the strong contrast between masculinity and femininity and destroying the female stereotype. Riot Grrrls started in the early 1990’s, and were the movement of third-wave feminism that focused less on laws and the political process, and more on individual identity. Riot Grrrls are often accused of being separatists: they want to form a life away from men and invent girl culture but, female masculinity goes beyond aesthetics. Your mind can be more masculine, your emotions can be more masculine; it’s not always about demeanour. This editorial is out on a mission to make a statement and show the empowerment of what it is to be in a girl gang.”
